Traditional Oil Paintings

Laurie Adams

Laurie Adams started painting when her children were in school full time and worked for years under the tutelage of renowned artists from the Denver Art Students League. She has achieved a serene and sensitive look to her work. Her soft oil paintings often portray figures in a romantic or quiet/sedate light. The soft glow of her work is often as important as the subject itself. Laurie's work has been exhibited throughout the United States.

John Ambrose

The small seaside towns of Cornwall, England have nurtured many famous impressionist artists, attracted by its beauty and tranquility. John Ambrose has been capturing these atmospheric scenes since 1962. His water glistens and shimmers, his clouds flow majestically across the sky and the jetties, boats and buildings, contracting with the dark against the light, are testaments to his mastery of chiaroscuro.

As a pass time, Rath operates a lovely bed and breakfast with his wife. His work has been exhibited in Paris, Munich and New York and can be found in collections all over the world.

Rosa Canto

Rosa Canto was born in Alcoy, Alicante, Spain in July, 1968.  Her artistic studies started at the Fine Arts School in Alcoy and continued in Valencia at the San Carlos Fine Arts University.  Canto is a master with paint.  On her canvases she shapes her landscapes, infusing them with the great flavor and character of her native country.  Her favored subjects are landscapes.  Forgetting the romanticism often seen, she looks for the nature and realism in her subjects.  She takes a visual picture of fields full of brilliantly colored flowers or serene Spanish villages.  Her goal is to be set apart from the traditional subjects of the artists from her region, by always portraying her homeland from her personal point of view.

Jeanne Echternach

Jeanne Echternach grew up along the New Hampshire coast, but for the past 30 years, Colorado has been her home. In her own words… “Each artist’s brushwork is their unique fingerprint and gives their work its own personality. My work explores the influence of color and how it affects the mood of the painting Sometimes subtle, using a limited color palette, other times bold, my intent is to stretch the boundaries of what you see to something new and unexpected. My focus is also on simplifying the whole painting while also achieving maximum impact. I am most strongly influenced by work that moves more toward an expressive reality than more traditional representational painting.” Jeanne’s work can be found in collections throughout the United States.

Born in 1972 in Smolensk, Russia, Yevgeny Khrykin was raised in Kiev, where his father was employed as a graphic designer. As a hobby, Khrykin constructs miniatures of churches, historic homes, buildings and mills, which he gives to his friends. Jamie Lisa

The distinguished paintings of Jamie Lisa capture fleeting impressions rather than permanent aspects of a subject. Her sumptuous, flowing brushwork allows the viewer to explore nuances of reality and truth. Within layers of beautifully orchestrated pigments, Lisa’s virile stokes of paint dash and swirl to represent light, atmosphere, motion of direct and reflected colors in open air. An impressionist of the first order, it is obvious that Lisa has been influenced by Monet in her command of light, water, and air, while her brushwork and splashes of color-especially her signature reds-are reminiscent of Renoir. Her very collectible pieces marry gentle movement with a calm tranquility, and her style has become familiar to art lovers the world over.

Omar Hamdi (“Malva”)

Malva is a legendary name and an important personality in the American art scene. A deeply religious man and a painter from Syria, the country of light and color, he represents an attempt to create a “Gesamtkunstwerk,” the integration of intellectual, philosophical, aesthetic and social values in a sensual art form. Born as the first child of a poor shepherd’s family in Tel Naif, a small village of mud cottages, Malva has had a hard life. His natural skills as a painter were not supported by his family. He left his family at age 17 and received much acclaim for his work under his assumed name. But, for political purposes, he was not able to work. He was drafted in the Syrian military as a graphic artist for seven years. He ended up with a wife and family in Beirut, where he escaped with false passports. His wife then left him (with his children) never to be heard from again. A second wife and family allowed him to restart his life in Austria, where he lives today. Through it all, Malva’s creativity seems endless. His naturalistic style gives way to a new expressionism and returns to the colors and lights of his homeland.

Mary Maxam

A native of Idaho, Mary Maxam finds inspiration for her paintings in the beautiful scenery and gardens of the Northwest. She is a graduate of Boise State University and teaches art. In her own words… “My subject might be wildflowers, a garden, or a fly fisherman, but in looking closer, you’ll see that the subjects I paint are really light and color. Something draws my eye and initially, my work is abstract driven. I search for the visual spark that I’ll convey in the work. Then I look at the formal aspects of painting, composition, etc. And, finally, I move in closer, developing subject personality.” Maxam’s work is displayed throughout the United States.

Armando Romano

Romano was born in Naples in 1953. After studying art in the local Academy, he started his career with art restoration and the reproduction of ancient paintings. From here he evolved to an intense study of landscapes, immersing himself in light effects and the variation of colors, according to the change of seasons. Romano does not give an interpretation of the landscape, he reproduces it scrupulously. The natural light is a prerogative in the artist’s work, which he captures with warm and sunny tonalities, which together with the strength and speed of his brush strokes, give his paintings spontaneity and clarity. Romano is present in several art publications and has exhibited in some of the most important galleries in Italy, the rest of Europe and the United States.

Michael Schofield

Michael Schofield has been a professional artist for more than 25 years. He was born in Orlando, Florida in 1947, but grew up in the Oakland area. He started painting and studying the watercolor medium while still in high school. His art teacher recognized a special talent and tutored him privately for two years. He went on to earn a Fine Arts degree in Nashville, Tennessee. During his college summers Schofield studied under the well known watercolorist, John Pike, a contemporary of Robert Wood. Following college, he opened his own art studio where he transitioned into oils and acrylics. He taught and painted for twelve years before returning to California, where he continues to live and work today. Schofield’s work can be found in many private and corporate collections. J.C. Seo

J.C. Seo was born in Korea in 1940. His most famous work is a painting commissioned by General Ray Davis of a depiction of General Douglas Mac Arthur leading troops during the Korean War. His work is influenced by 19th century masters Anders Zorn and John Singer Sargent. He prefers to work on a warm palette, balancing passages of rich color with delicate grays. Through subtle color harmonies and lighting, Seo is quite adept at creating a sense of mood in each of his paintings. His work is on display throughout the United States and Asia.

Dennis Sheehan

Dennis Sheehan (b. 1950) has work in major public and private collections, including the White House. Sheehan paints in the Barbizon style with remarkable authority and faithful adherence to his 19th century precursors. In the tradition of the Tonalist painters, Sheehan creates landscapes of mood, affected by nature's changing seasons. Sheehan's work is influenced by the work of 19th century painter George Inness. Like Inness, he employs the dark palette and thickly pigmented surfaces of the French Barbizon School, all the while maintaining a muted Tonalist chromatic scheme.
